I’ve heard people call themselves either a cat person or a dog person or both or none. Well then, I think I’ll have to call myself a pet person given that I had a wide variety of pets (wide variety implying maybe around 3 different species). I love pets and how they listen to you ramble for hours without being bored or maybe they’re looking at me thinking when will I shut up (lol). But seriously, they truly add that special something to your life when you’re with them.

It IS quite a job to have certain pets (not gonna lie), a really enthusiastic dog for instance, like a labrador maybe. You can almost constantly find them chewing on your favorite shoes, furniture, blankets, you name it! You might find yourselves in a position thinking of all the possible reasons for why on earth you got a dog. But then again, you know you’ll cry your heart out the day you don’t have him anymore. So like I said, they become that special something in your life which can’t be put into words.
The first pet I had were birds, lovebirds. They were really pretty, so colorful and melodious. Though I loved my birds, I was also scared of their beaks (in fact I was scared of most of my pets. Haha... silly old me). We also had golden fish, two of them actually, one of which I overfed and you know what happened next. Somewhere along the way, two beautiful turtles also turned up at our house uninvited and were gone the next day (back then, turtles were common around where we live but I don’t see them much anymore). And after so many years, we got a doggy, a labrador, a highly energetic one. It was our(me and my brother’s) first time having a puppy but our parents had a dog a long time back. This energetic golden-yellow puppy was the naughtiest fellow we ever met. She made quite an entrance the minute dad opened the box we brought her in. Well, I didn’t see a lot of what happened after that nor did my brother as we both found ourselves standing on top of our kitchen countertop the minute our pup decided to jump out and chase two creatures that looked frantic and short in stature – us. It's cringey to look back at it today because that day we realized we were terrified of our 3-month-old harmless puppy. So basically, she played with mom and dad most of the time, initially, and gradually we too learned to play with her without running away halfway playing fetch, and climbing anything climbable in the vicinity. Since then, we have had the best time. Many a time, kittens too turned up at our house and they usually stayed for only a day or two and would then move somewhere else, leaving my brother heartbroken since he’s a cat person.
Isn’t it so thrilling to have your doggy wagging his tail, waiting for you, excited for you to be home after the day’s work? Or to see your cat fall asleep on your feet? Or to have that needy puppy who loves to lie on your lap the minute you sit down? Or to see him spin in circles when he knows it's time for food? Or take him on a car ride with you and see how happy he is to put his head out of the window and eat the air? Or maybe not, maybe he is least excited about you (like most cats) and everything else, a lazy one, who doesn’t want to be bothered all the time to play fetch or to try and catch the spot you made with your cat laser pointer. Either way, I feel like pets bring in a lot of positivity to life which humans can’t. And they will be with you all along.
Do you have a pet? or do you wish to get one? Tell me about it, I'd love to hear!
